The 1929 Wall Street Crash and the following Great Depression left many millions of Americans out of work. Franklin D. Roosevelts sought to alleviate some of the joblessness with social programs that employed young men to build infrastructure. A great beneficiary of these programs was the national parks, which saw many of the facilities that we rely on today built by the Works Progress Administration in the 1930s. As part of the effort to keep people in the creative industries employed, and to increase visitation to the national parks and monuments, the Federal Arts Project created a number of travel posters.

This Vintage Petrified Forest National Monument Poster (it didn't become a national park until 1962) has been painstakingly restored by National Parks Partnership to remove blemishes, correct color and sharpen text so that it looks as good as it did in the 1930s. The original posters were pretty small, at 13"x19" - the great news is that you can get this recreation as large as 24"x36"! All profits from sales are donated to national park charities.

  • 175 gsm fine art paper

Really nice but pretty small

This poster has a beautiful design, but it's smaller than I expected. Still, it's a great addition to my collection of national park posters.
