Yosemite National Park Poster - Ansel Adams Half Dome
Yosemite National Park Poster - Ansel Adams Half Dome
Ansel Easton Adams (February 20, 1902 – April 22, 1984) is the most well-known national park photographer of all time. His work is still revered today and his images continue to command record fees at auctions. In 1968, his images were featured on a series of posters created by the Department of the Interior and National Park Service.
Yosemite National Park, located in California's Sierra Nevada, is a breathtaking wilderness renowned for its towering granite cliffs, iconic waterfalls like Yosemite Falls, and ancient sequoia groves. It offers diverse outdoor activities, including hiking, rock climbing, and wildlife viewing, attracting millions of visitors annually.
One of the most fascinating things about these posters is the logo. The intertwined triangles and 3 dots served as the official logo of the National Park Service from 1966-1969, although it was not popular with visitors and the arrowhead returned.
As this poster hasn’t been in print for over 55 years, we had to go back to the drawing board and recreate them from scratch.
